I think I mentioned a few posts back that we layered up some large pots with the idea of planting some potatoes. We’ve never tried growing potatoes before so this was a huge experiment. We got a couple of seed potatoes from Morrisons and also one from a free coupon inside a gardening magazine.
Back in April we had layered up the pots the same way as our no-dig gardens and let them sit for a free weeks quietly decomposing into soil.
Our very friendly neighbour let us know when the time was right to plant them and off we went. We planted the freebie in the potato planter bag and the others in the large green pots. One of these were red-skinned potatoes so we are very curious to see how these turn out.
About three weeks ago we dug up the first of our white potatoes and these were amazing (small but plentiful). Today we have finally decided to have a look and see if our red-skinned potatoes are ready.
