We took the covers off the no-dig garden to have a look and one of them had been completely turned over by a family of rats!! Aaaahhhhhhh!! What to do?!
Photo: the garden on the right WAS the same as the garden on the left until the rats got involved!!
Mike did a bit of online research and on looking at the tunnels and the nest again we realised that they were at the very top layer of the garden. They had pulled through most of the straw to the top level so we are hoping that if we leave the cover off the garden they will go away.
We won’t have much of a chance to test our theory though as later today we are going to add the last three layers (that is providing the rain stays away)!
